American Mensa is an organization for people of IQs in the top 2 percent. Mensa has over 57,000 members. More than six million Americans are eligible for Mensa membership.
The Columbia River chapter of American Mensa will be holding three qualifying test sessions in October. The times, dates and places of the test sessions are as follows:
October 20, 2:00 PM-4:00 PM
Yakima Neighborhood Health Services, 12 South 8th Street, Yakima, WA 98901
October 27, 1:30 PM-3:30 PM
Hal Holmes Center (Ellensburg Library), 209 North Ruby St., Ellensburg, WA 98926
October 20, 1:00 PM-3:00 PM
Mid-Columbia Library, 1620 So. Union St., Kennewick, WA 99336
The fee for testing is $40. This is a charge levied by American Mensa, over which local chapters have no control. Payment can be made by check or money order to "American Mensa," or by credit card. You can also pre-pay your fee through the American Mensa website at http://is.gd/8RdBJY. In addition to the payment, you should also bring a piece of identification bearing your photo. Everything else will be furnished. The test will take less than two hours.
There is no need to register in advance to take the qualifying test-all you need to do is show up. Questions can be directed to me at the address and phone below (despite the North Carolina area code, I am located in the Tri-Cities).
Members of the working press may take the qualifying test at no cost. If you are interested in doing this, please respond to me directly.
When you receive your test results, you can go to the American Mensa web site at http://is.gd/XFAfc6 to get information on converting your test score to an IQ score.
You may also qualify for membership by submitting evidence of a prior test where you scored with the upper 2% of those taking that test. Information about this procedure can be found online at http://is.gd/KExxzd.
We would appreciate any publicity you could give us in promoting these test sessions by including them in your events calendar or public service announcements. Please contact me should you need further information.
