Individuals Freed from Modern Slavery Care Kit Collection
Human trafficking is one of the largest criminal industries in the world. It is also a rapidly growing problem in the United States. Each year, hundreds of thousands of men, women and children in America are subject to forced labor and sexual exploitation.
The CWU Center for Leadership and Community Engagement (CLCE) is asking everyone to help survivors of human trafficking by donating care kit items Feb. 20 through March 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) tabling area on the first floor.
Useful items to donate include: shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, shavers, cotton swabs, tampons, toothbrushes and toothpaste.
All collected items will go to Juneteenth Central Washington and the Genesis Project, both of which are organizations dedicated to helping survivors of human trafficking.
For more information contact the Center for Leadership and Community Engagement (CLCE) at 509-963-1850, takeaction@cwu.edu or www.cwu.edu/leadership-engage.
