National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week
Kittitas County, WA -04/08/2013 - The Kittitas County Public Works Department will be acknowledging National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week the week of April 15-19th this year. This is the 14th such campaign put on by the Federal Highway Administration, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, and the American Traffic Safety Services Association.
The program's goal is to improve work zone safety for workers on all types of roads, and raise the traveling public's awareness of the need to obey traffic rules and signs in work zones. Support the men and women working to improve our highways, roadways and streets: pay attention in work zones. Slow down, stay calm, eliminate distractions, expect delays, and observe the posted signs.
National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week's 2013 theme is "Work Zone Safety: We're All In This Together", highlighting the complexities of work zones and the need for awareness and planning on everyone's part: road workers, drivers, bicyclists, motorcyclists, pedestrians, emergency response, law enforcement, and utility workers.
